Precision in the Capital: Seamless Delivery in a Live Hospitality Environment

A high-end retail fit-out at the Marriott Marquis Washington D.C., bridging historic architecture with the Starbucks brand.

Marriott Marquis Starbucks

Located in the heart of downtown Washington D.C., this project required the seamless integration of a high-volume Starbucks store into one of the city’s most prominent hospitality venues. The site presented a unique dual challenge: working within the bustling, fully operational environment of the Marriott Marquis while navigating the structural intricacies of the attached United Association (AFL) Headquarters, built in 1915.

Blackrock Development Management led the delicate retrofitting of the century-old infrastructure, including the meticulous penetration and patching of historic terracotta structural elements to accommodate modern systems without compromising integrity. Through rigorous coordination with hotel management, Marriott corporate stakeholders, and back-of-house teams, we delivered a polished retail experience with zero disruption to the hotel's daily operations.
